The Project Architect will be expected to do the following tasks with minimal supervision and assistance:
- Will perform architectural programming or program verification
- Design tasks will include site planning, building space planning, FF&E and building design - May be lead designer or co-designer.
- Lead client meetings
- Zoning and building code research
- Develop site plans, in coordination with building designer, including building siting, parking layout, topography planning and others.
- Develop construction drawings for one and two story buildings in wood, masonry and steel frame.
- Be primary or secondary client contact (able to professionally work with customers)
- Coordinate consultants
- Work with structural engineer. Understand structural concepts: framing, details, materials, etc.
- Work with HVAC engineer. Understand HVAC concepts: unit sizing, air distribution, duct sizing, diffuser locations etc.
- Work with plumbing engineer. Understand plumbing concepts: site and building, waste, supply sizing, gas and fire protection, etc
- Work with electrical engineer. Understand electrical concepts: service sizing, data, phone, power distribution and lighting, etc
- Work with civil engineer. Understand grading concepts, utility systems, road systems and others
- Assist with specification writing: contributing sections, research, design intent.
- Handle bidding or negotiation process.
- Assist with writing the construction contract
- Perform construction administration duties: Shop drawing review, site observations, RFI, CCD, CO processing, etc.
- Work with Principal and Project manager on proposals, contracts, budget reviews, payables, and other business activities.
- Continuous Improvement: What professionals do with their “down time” defines them.

The Project Architect will:
- Have 4-6 years of registered experience
- Have good design sense and abilities
- Have a strong ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants and staff
- Demonstrable experience in standard office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and others
- Have experience with CAD software – with BIM experience a plus. (We will train you in BIM)
- As the Project Architect grows in experience we will expect project management duties to increase.
